ประวัติของ Saul Bass

Saul Bass เกิดเมื่อวันที่ 8 พฤษภาคม ปี ค.ศ. 1920 ที่ New York City, นิวยอร์ก ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา ในช่วงที่เขามีอายุ 40 ปี เขาได้มีส่วนร่วมในการสร้างภาพยนตร์ที่ได้รับการกล่าวขวัญถึงเป็นอย่างมากในช่วงนั้น โดยร่วมสร้างกับผู้กำกับที่มีชื่อเสียงในขณะนั้นเช่น อัลเฟรด ฮิตช์คอร์ค (Alfred Hitchcock), ออตโต้ พรีมิงเกอร์ (Otto Preminger), บิลลี่ ไวเดอร์ (Billy Wilder), สแตนลี่ คูบริค (Stanley Kubrick) และ มาร์ติน สกอเซซี่ (Martin Scorsese)

ผลงานในส่วนของการทำภาพเคลื่อนไหวในส่วนของการเปิดปิดภาพยนตร์หลายๆ เรื่องก็เป็นฝีมือของเขา เช่น ในภาพยนตร์เรื่อง The Man with the Golden Arm ของพรีมิงเกอร์, ในภาพยนตร์เรื่อง North by Northwest และ Psycho ของฮิตช์คอร์ค

เขามีผลงานในด้านการดีไซน์โลโก้อันเป็นสัญลักษณ์ให้กับบริษัทที่มีชื่อเสียงหลายๆ แห่ง ไม่ว่าจะเป็นโลโก้ “bell” ของ AT&T ในปีค.ศ. 1969 และโลโก้ “globe” ของ AT&T เช่นกันในปีค.ศ.1983 หลังจากที่ระบบ Bell ล่มสลาย เขาก็ได้ดีไซน์โลโก้ “jetstream” ของสายการบิน Continental Airlines ในปีค.ศ.1968 รวมทั้งโลโก้ “tulip” ของสายการบิน United Airlines ในปีค.ศ.1974 ซึ่งบางโลโก้นั้นได้รับการยอมรับมากที่สุดในอุตสาหกรรมสายการบินในยุคนั้น

เขาเสียชีวิตเมื่อวันที่ 25 เมษายน ค.ศ. 1996 ที่ลอสแองเจลิส แคลิฟอร์เนีย ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา ขณะมีอายุได้ 75 ปี
